Drainage Channel HYDROblock - Installation Instruction Asphalt

preparation installation tools hammer, scale and string

1) Preparation

Plan how the rainwater will drain away, e.g. via an existing underground pipe or a nearby trench. Recommended tools for installation: rubber mallet, spirit level and string with holding rods.

2) Dig a trench

Remove the asphalt and dig a trench.
y = 20 cm + HYDROblock height (up to D 400) or y = 25 cm + HYDROblock height (up to F 900)
x = 30 cm + HYDROblock width (up to D 400) or x = 40 cm + HYDROblock width (up to F 900)

3) Determine position

Determine the course of the drainage channel with a string. The string is also used later for levelling the channel elements. The height of the string should be 3 mm below the top edge of the asphalt.

4) Determine the beginning of the installation

The drainage channel installation begins with the outlet element. Both drain elements with vertical outlet and feed boxes can be used for this purpose. Alternatively, the spigot end of the HYDROblock can be used to connect a pipe. When using a feed box, the trench must be excavated deeper.

5) Set concrete foundation

Extend the underground pipe with a pipe joint. Place a concrete foundation with a grade of C25/30 in the trench.
z = 20 cm (up to D 400) or z = 25 cm (up to F 900).
The channel elements are set when the concrete is earth-moist.

6) Set drain element with vertical outlet

Place the outlet element on the underground pipe. The pipe opening is closed until installation is complete so that no dirt can get into the pipe.

7) Lubricant

Apply lubricant to the spigot end before the drainage channel elements can be joined together.

8) Lay more drainage channel elements

First connect the channel elements loosely by spigot and socket end.

9) Installation aid

Then pull the channel elements together with the HYDROblock installation aid. Use a rubber mallet to bring the elements to the height of the string. For the installation of the nominal width 300, 2 installation aids are required and placed in the outer openings of the grating. For laying the channel in pedestrian design, please use our special FG laying aid.

10) Mounting support

In order to avoid movement of the drainage channel when asphalting, it is recommended to bolt them into the foundation with concrete screw anchors or to secure them with a concrete mounting support on the sides.

Sealing tape on the long sides of the HYDROblock channel elements

11) Sealing tape on the long sides

Apply a sealing tape according to ZTV Fug - Stb 15 to the long sides of the HYDROblock elements. It compensates transverse expansion.

12) Set end pieces

Place the matching end pieces at the ends of the drainage channel line.

13) Load bearing substructure and the binder course

Lay the load bearing substructure and the asphalt binder course around the drainage channel.

14) Asphalting

Lay the asphalt next to the drainage channel and then roll it into the ground. The drainage channel is then ready for use.
