Drainage Channel MINI - Installation Instruction

Tools hammer scale and string

1) Preparation

Before installation, it should be planned how the rainwater is to run off, e.g. via an existing underground pipe or a nearby trench. We also recommend the following tools for installation: rubber hammer, spirit level, string with holding rods.

Digging a trench with dimensions in the paving area

2) Dig a trench

Remove paving stones and dig a trench with a total depth of 23 cm for 1.5 tonnes or 28 cm for up to 25 tonnes load. The width of the trench should be at least 14 cm.

3) Determine the position of the drainage channel

Use a string to determine the course of the drainage channel. The string will also be used for levelling the channel elements. The height of the string should be 5 mm lower than the top edge of the paving.

4) Set concrete foundation

Extend the pipe of the base line with a pipe socket. Place a concrete foundation with a grade of C25/30 in the trench. The distance from the foundation to the top edge of the paving stone should be 13 cm. The channel elements can be set when the concrete is earth-moist.

5) Determine the beginning of the installation

The drainage channel installation begins with the channel element that is to be used to drain the water. A drain element with a hole for KG pipes DN 100/110 can be used for this. Alternatively, there are also Feed boxes for this purpose. The concrete bed must be earth-moist for the installation.

6) Set vertical outlet element

Place the vertical outlet element on the pipe and on the concrete bed. Seal the pipe opening until installation is complete so that no dirt can get into the pipe.

7) Lay more drainage channel elements

When laying, it is generally important to ensure that the individual channel elements are installed vertically and not pushed together! Then insert the gratings and lock them in place. Level the channels to the string with a rubber mallet.

8) Set end pieces

Insert the matching end pieces at the ends of the drainage channel line.

9) Load bearing substructure and paving bedding

Lay bearing substructure and paving bedding around the drainage channel.

10) Paving

Place paving stones at the drainage channels. The top edge of the drainage channel must be permanently approx. 5 mm lower than the adjacent pavement. Sweep existing sand into the joints of the paving stones.

11) Seal vertical outlet element

Seal the vertical outlet element with a sealant.

12) Seal the channel elements

Seal the joints between the channel elements with a sealant. The drainage channel is then ready for use.
